Yes, we have started over. I did finish all 13 weeks of the first run. I didn't quit before the end and start over.
I would like to say that I was diligent the whole time and I have the amazing results I wanted, but I would be lying. Changing from first back to third shift was a little difficult and there were mental issues I needed to deal with. However, that is past and I am starting the second go round a lot more fit than I began before. Hell, I couldn't conceive of doing more than a single wide-grip pull-up and now I can do as many as seven or eight. It would be great if I could pull off twnty or more like Tony or the rest of them, but I will be happy to just be able to do a few more each time.
This go round I intend to go through with the Ab-Ripper workout. I usually just skipped it all around, but if I want to get rid of this 25 pesky pounds I am going to have to "Bring It!"

Today as I start the "Lean" program I began with Core Synergistics. I can actually do a lot more with these exercises than I did in the past. I can do better, I just need to mentally push myself past my comfort limits. I do really like the Dreya Rolls. The first time I couldn't get up, but I am much better at it now. The Sphinx Pushups are a real beast, though.

I spoke with a guy online a while back and he was all for finding a workout partner. I told him about P90X and he was really excited about it. I wouldn't mind being able to share this with someone. Sam simply isn't in shape to go through even the easiest Stretch.

Well, I have to get a shower and some reading done before work.

Later!

P90X Day Five

Hoo boy! Today was Legs and Back. I was sure with the way my muscles were aching for the past two days there was no way I was going to get through this workout without serious pain. However, I really surprised myself and got through it rather easily. I still have trouble with the pull-ups, though. I am trying to find a way to get them in using the chair method. The bands simply don't work very well under these circumstances. I just get no real resistance without pulling all the way back and nearly pulling the chin-up bar from the wall.
The one-legged wall squats are killers, though. We are all glad for the switch. Now that I have gone through the week (minus the Kenpo tomorrow) I can figure out where to make the adjustments for optimum performance.
I wasn't sure I was going to make it through this week, but here I am baby... ready and raring to go for another week!

WOW!! Today was Plyometrics, which is essentially a lot of jumping. Through plyometrics an individual increases their jump.
I couldn't quite get the air time that the professionals did, but I kept up far better today than I did yesterday. Of course, jogging as long as I have, and walking to work every day doesn't hurt at all.
So, the next time plymetrics comes around I hope to bring it a little more!
I will have to enjoy my confidence today because tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms with Ab-Ripper. I wonder if I can do the Ab-Ripper first and Shoulders & Arms after.

What a wonderful week!! I was glad to be with my friends and family at Sirius and I was saddened by the fact that I inevitably had to leave. However, bills, work, and obligations wait for no man.
As in years past, I learned a lot about myself and the world around me while in deep meditation. I brought some physical souveniers from the event, but also brought many more philosophical and spiritual gifts as well.

I did finally receive the P90X material in the mail. It came on Monday as I anticipated. I didn't get to look at it until I came home on Friday to pick up my car from the garage and drop my daughter off with my parents.
P90X is some very serious material and it isn't likely to be any cake walk. I am really going to work my ass off (figuratively and literally) to get through these next 90 days. I thought I would start this Monday, but I realize that there are a lot of groceries to buy before I start. The nutrition aspect of the program is just as important and this house has very little GOOD food in the pantry. (This week I see a lot of bad junk food being eaten quickly to get rid of it...)
However, I am intending on starting Monday.
There is one thing that will affect my program. I understand that I will be starting on first shift at work to train on the newer machines. It is the first step toward Operator B status (which is a pay scale jump, thank you very much.) I will be on first shift for a few weeks until I can get the hang of the job. Then I can return to third shift.
I need to return to third before the end of August or it is going to put a major wrench in the plans for Summerlands in Ohio.
Anyway, I will still be doing my exercises at the general same time, it will just be after work instead of when I get up.
I have been taking a general look at the different DVDs and man, these workouts are intense. I can see from the get-go that there are quite a few that I am going to have a lot of trouble getting through for the first few weeks, but that's the whole point. The mantra for P90X is "Bring It!" If you aren't willing to give 100% you might as well not even bother buying the product because you simply will not get the same results if you don't.

So, wish me luck... I don't know if I am going to post again until I start on Monday.

Bright Blessings!

P90X The Beginning...

Well, I have been trying since this past February to lose those pesky pounds that keep me from my size 30 jeans.  Samantha told me that she saw a commercial for a new product called P90X which is a very intensive work-out program that "confuses" your muscles into working harder and more efficiently.
Though the price is rather steep for our finances it might just be the kick in the proverbial arse that I need to get back down to my high school weight.
So, I don't really post very often, but with this new program I guess you are supposed to journal your progress.  (Kind of like Weight Watchers.)  I have Samantha's support so this should be a lot easier than some of the stuff I have tried in the past.
I ordered it today, June 27, 2008 and I got free express delivery.  This means it should come within the next 7 to 10 days instead of the two to three weeks advertised.  I won't have it before Sirius Rising, but I didn't plan on having a beach ready body by then anyway.
I am also supposed to take pictures that show progress over the 90 day period.  I make no guarantees that those pictures will end up here on my journal, but I might be in a mood.
OK... wish me luck!
